Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former Vice President and 2024 Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has visited Rev. John Ntim Fordjour following reports of an attempted arrest at his residence by National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) officials.

The issue is reportedly tied to ongoing investigations into drug trafficking and money laundering involving two international flights in March 2025.

The incident, which occurred on April 9, faced strong opposition from the Minority caucus in Parliament, labelling it as politically motivated.

Despite the ordeal, Rev. Fordjour, MP for Assin South and Ranking Member on the Defence and Interior Committee, was described by Dr. Bawumia as resilient and in good spirits.

In his Facebook post, Dr. Bawumia urged NPP members to remain calm and law-abiding, condemning the actions as political persecution.

He appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to ensure security agencies are not misused for political purposes, emphasizing the importance of upholding democratic principles and the rule of law.
