The Judicial Service of Ghana has issued a new directive mandating that all newly filed cases and applications in the Superior Courts be assigned by the Acting Chief Justice.

In a memorandum dated April 23, 2025, Deputy Judicial Secretary Dr. Cyracus B. Bapuuroh instructed registrars of the High Court, Court of Appeal, and Supreme Court to forward all fresh filings to Acting Chief Justice, Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie.

The directive covers court assignments, the empanelling of judges in jurisdictions with multiple courts, and the scheduling of hearing dates.

It supersedes all previous guidelines on court assignments and will remain in force until further notice.

“Take note that this directive supercedes all previous directives until further notice,” part of the statement read.

The measure aims to enhance case management and promote consistency across the judicial system.
