The Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) is calling on traders to reduce the prices of goods and services to reflect the recent appreciation of the cedi against the US dollar.

In a statement signed by its president, Joseph Obeng, GUTA emphasized that adjusting prices downward would provide much-needed relief to consumers.

The association acknowledged the notable resilience of the cedi, which has reversed its earlier depreciation trend, and urged the trading community to pass on the benefits to the public.

“The Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) wishes to appeal to the trading community to adjust the prices of goods and services to share the significant gains made by the appreciation of the cedi against the major trading currencies and bring some relief to the consuming public,” the statement read.

With the local currency gaining strength, Ghanaians are expecting traders to reduce prices of goods and services to reflect the appreciation of the cedi.
