The Minority in Parliament is calling on government to immediately publish a reliable load-shedding timetable as erratic power supply continues to disrupt homes, businesses, and critical services nationwide.
At a press conference held in Parliament today, the Minority expressed outrage over the government’s refusal to acknowledge the worsening situation, describing it as “deceptive silence” that has left Ghanaians struggling in darkness.
“The Ghanaian people deserve honesty, not excuses. People are living in darkness. Businesses are losing money. Students are unable to study. And yet, the government refuses to even acknowledge the problem.”
The legislators accused the Ministry of Energy and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) of failing to provide clear communication and a timetable that would allow citizens to plan their lives around the outages.
They warned that the continued lack of transparency could further erode public trust.
“Even in past energy crises, citizens were at least informed. Today, the lights are going off without warning, and no one is being held accountable”.
The press conference, themed “Stop the Talking, Fix the Lights – Before the 24-Hour Economy Becomes a 24-Hour Blackout,” signals a renewed effort by the Minority to pressure authorities into addressing the crisis head-on.
