A teenage boy has reportedly been killed by a stray bullet fired by a police officer chasing suspected fraudsters in Ibadan.
According to local reports, the student was on his way to sit for the ongoing West African Examinations Council (WAEC) exams when he was struck. He was rushed to Welfare Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
In protest, traders and sympathisers carried the boy’s body to the Oyo State Secretariat, demanding justice and police reform.
As of the time of this report, security personnel had been deployed to the secretariat entrance to manage the crowd. The Oyo State Police Command and the state government are yet to release an official statement.
