The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), led by Chief Executive Michael Kpapko Allotey, has introduced “Operation Red Line”, a strategic initiative aimed at enhancing pedestrian safety and managing street trading within the Central Business District.
As part of the AMA’s broader decongestion exercise, the operation involves marking red lines on pavements and walkways to designate specific zones for pedestrian movement and controlled trading activities.
The rollout is accompanied by enforcement measures, including the removal of unauthorized structures, mobile vendors, and encroachments that obstruct public pathways and roadways.
On Wednesday, May 21, AMA taskforces continued their decongestion efforts at the busy Circle Neoplan Station, marking Day 2 of the citywide campaign to reduce congestion across Accra.
Authorities urge traders, pedestrians, and commuters to cooperate to ensure a safer, more organized urban environment.
