Former Member of Parliament for Suben Constituency and Former Deputy Minister for Works and Housing Eugene Antwi Boakye has touted listening and a keen attention to detail as a highly strategic move to victory in 2028 for the New Patriotic Party.

In an interview on Happy 98.9FM’s Epa Hoa Daben with host Bismark Brown, Boakye described opposition as a period where political parties engage in a series of banters and ignite various accusations against each other – an attitude he stated must be strictly opposed by the NPP. “Being in opposition is not a good position at all, the party gets distorted by blame game and various accusations that lead to a whole lot of issues within the party.”

The former MP explained that despite the seemingly low position the NPP finds itself in, party members must seek to strategize with a primary objective of collectively working towards victory in the next election.

“This is the time for us to listen more. The way we were brought to opposition is very shameful. Since 200, never has the NPP gone below 45% percent of votes before and emerge with less than 110 MPs in this country. Going for this huge election, 88 MPs and 41% is not good. So we need to strategize and listen to what everyone has to say and align them to the strategically outlined exercise we shall take moving forward.” he said.

Mr. Boakye expressed confidence in the recommendations made by a committee led by Professor Mike Oquaye in an executive summary report and urged for party members to focus on how to attain victory as a collective goal to bring about best results come 2028. “We have lost. Now, we have to focus on the recommendations that have been made in the report and work towards it.”
