The National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, has called on the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to act with fairness in its handling of matters involving Chairman Wontumi.

Addressing the media on Thursday, May 29, at the forecourt of EOCO, where Minority MPs, NPP executives, and party supporters had gathered to demand the release of Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, Nana B expressed concern over the treatment meted out to him. Chairman Wontumi was arrested on Tuesday, May 27, following a meeting with the Police CID.

According to Nana B, Chairman Wontumi honored an invitation by the CID and was granted bail after an interrogation.
However, he was apprehended immediately after leaving the CID office, an act Nana B strongly condemned, likening it to a kidnapping.

He further revealed that despite their presence at the EOCO headquarters, they were informed that Chairman Wontumi was not on the premises, raising questions about his whereabouts.

“We demand that there should be fairness in all of this, you invited Wontumi on Monday, he came to the Police CID and after interrogation he was granted bail. You told him to report the following day and just when he was exiting, he was ambushed and he was picked up. I would say he was kidnapped, now we don’t even know his whereabouts,” he said.
