The government has announced that nursing trainees will start receiving their allowances retrospectively from January 2025.

President John Dramani Mahama, during his Thank You Tour in the Bono East Region, assured students at Kintampo Nursing Training College that the Ministry of Finance has made provision for payments and is finalizing a system to integrate allowance disbursement through the Controller and Accountant-General.

Once implemented, trainees will receive their allowances monthly, along with salary payments for public sector workers, including all arrears since January.

Additionally, the President commended transport unions for reducing fares, easing financial pressure on citizens, and reiterated government plans to boost industrialization, particularly in cashew production.

Infrastructure development remains a priority, with plans underway for outer ring roads in major cities like Accra, Kumasi, Tamale, Takoradi, Sunyani, and Techiman.

To enhance accountability, President Mahama emphasized that 80% of the District Assembly’s Common Fund would be allocated directly to regions, with MMDCEs’ performance evaluated based on fund utilization.
