The Concerned Drivers Association of Ghana has given the Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Agbodza, a one-week ultimatum to take immediate action on the stalled Pokuase-Nsawam road project or face a major protest.
In an exclusive interview with Happy Kaseɛbɔ, the Association’s Chairman, William Osei—popularly known as Paa Willie—praised President John Dramani Mahama for reducing fuel prices within his first six months in office but expressed deep frustration over the government’s failure to complete the critical road stretch.
“It takes over four hours to travel between Pokuase and Nsawam, a journey that should take far less time,” Paa Willie stated.
He accused the current contractor of inefficiency and called on the Roads Minister to reassign the contract to a more competent firm capable of accelerating the project.
According to the Association, the situation has worsened with the onset of the rainy season, making the road nearly impassable and increasingly dangerous for both drivers and passengers.
Paa Willie emphasized that the poor condition of the road is not only causing delays but also affecting livelihoods and posing safety risks.
“If our concerns are not addressed within the next week, we will block the road completely. No vehicle will pass,” he warned.
The Association has appealed for urgent government intervention to prevent further hardship and potential unrest.
