The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Asikuma Odoben Brakwa, Olivia Bentil, has urged the residents of the district to consistently partake in the sanitation exercises slated for every month under the national sanitation day initiative.

The National Sanitation Day initiative in Ghana is observed on the first Saturday of every month. It is a nationwide clean-up exercise aimed at improving public health and reducing the burden of sanitation-related diseases. The initiative is part of the broader “Clean Up Ghana” agenda and is spearheaded by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development

District Chief Executive Bentil, made these remarks during the observation of the sanitation day at Breman Brakwa on the 4th of July 2025. According to her, this intervention initiated by the Government of Ghana, will contribute to ensuring that proper sanitation habits are observed in communities, promote healthy living and prevent potential disasters. “It is my desire for Asikuma Odoben Brakwa to be one of the cleanest districts in the country. I would like to commend each and every resident for making time to come and engage in this initiative. Let us be consistent in doing this. Anytime we are called upon to come together like this let us do so in the spirit of unity, urgency and love as we did today.”

Sharing similar sentiments, the Odikro of Breman Brakwa, Nana Osa Ofori III, acknowledged the efforts of residents and their active participation in a worthwhile cause. He noted that their compliance towards the exercise is a step in the right direction for the district. “I would like to extend gratitude to our DCE and every other person that joined us today to uphold the nation’s mandate. Anything that must be done to ensure that we shall develop I believe we are ready to do it. Let’s help one another in unity.” he admonished.
