The Deputy Director-General in charge of Operations at the National Service Authority (NSA) and former DCE for Sekyere Afram Plains, Fuseini Donkor, has criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for missing an opportunity to apologize to Ghanaians during its recent Delegates Conference.

In an interview monitored by Happyghana.com, Mr. Donkor stated that the NPP should have used the platform to show remorse for what he described as the hardship the party’s eight-year rule had brought upon the nation.

He remarked that many Ghanaians had expected the party’s leadership to acknowledge public dissatisfaction and begin their engagement with an apology for the difficulties experienced during their time in office.

“When they got the opportunity to speak to Ghanaians, some of us expected them to acknowledge the concerns of the public and apologize for what they took us through in the past eight years but they didn’t,” he said.

Mr. Donkor further argued that the NPP’s decision to elect a flagbearer before party executives was a strategic misstep that could damage party unity.

He explained that allowing a flagbearer to be elected first could give the individual undue influence over the selection of party executives, potentially leading to internal divisions and voter apathy.

He referenced the approach taken during former President John Agyekum Kufuor’s era, where executive structures were established before the flagbearer was selected, suggesting the NPP should have followed that precedent to ensure a more balanced and united front.
