Asenso-Boakye Slams Roads Minister Over “Cheap Propaganda” on Akufo-Addo’s Legacy

Former Roads Minister Francis Asenso-Boakye has hit back at current Roads Minister Kwame Agbodza, accusing him of engaging in “cheap political propaganda” and trying to downplay the Akufo-Addo administration’s road infrastructure achievements.

Asenso-Boakye’s reaction follows Agbodza’s recent press briefing, where he questioned the government’s claim of constructing over 10,000 kilometers of roads — a figure the Minority insists is even higher. According to them, the NPP government completed over 13,000 kilometers of roads between 2017 and 2024.

In a sharp rebuttal, Asenso-Boakye described the current minister’s comments as misleading and part of what he called a growing trend of distortion and double standards.

He criticized Agbodza’s claim that the 10,000 kilometers of roads were a “mirage” because he “did not see them” during his tour, calling it disingenuous and a clear attempt to politicize verifiable facts.

“The Roads Minister’s statements are not only inaccurate but deliberately aimed at undermining the previous government’s hard-earned achievements. You don’t dismiss data just because you didn’t personally see the roads.”

Asenso-Boakye urged the current administration to focus on continuing infrastructure development rather than discrediting past efforts for political gain.
