The New Patriotic Party’s Kamaldeen Ibrahim, has called for urgent reforms within the Ghana’s Air Force following the devastating Adansi helicopter crash.
Kalmadeen described the incident as a sobering moment that must prompt serious reflection and action.
Speaking in an interview on EPA HO DABEN with Bismark Brown on Happy 98.9, he urged the Ghana Armed Forces to treat the crash as a wake-up call, stressing the need for stricter aircraft maintenance protocols, enhanced pilot training and safety procedures, greater transparency in military aviation operations and accountability in defense resource management
His remarks reflect growing public concern over the safety of Ghana’s military aircraft, especially in light of past incidents and global data showing higher accident rates for military helicopters compared to commercial ones.
The crash has sparked renewed calls for investigation and reform.
Aviation experts and civil society groups are urging the government to:
– Conduct a full audit of military aircraft
– Review procurement and maintenance practices
