The Ministry of Defence has pledged a thorough and transparent investigation into the helicopter crash that claimed eight lives, including Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, in Adansi Akrofuom on August 6.

Speaking to chiefs in Accra on August 13, Deputy Defence Minister, Brogya Genfi confirmed that the Ghana Armed Forces has commenced investigations and sought international collaboration.

“We made a request for international collaboration, and we have received a positive response. We want to assure our chiefs that nothing will be covered. It will be transparent, and the Ghanaian public will know exactly what happened and the cause of this tragic accident” the Deputy Defence Minister promised.

He also urged the media to exercise caution in reporting on the incident.

The helicopter crash, which occurred en route to an anti-illegal mining event in Obuasi, killed all eight aboard, including Environment Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, NDC Vice Chairman Samuel Sarpong, and three military crew members.
