Kinbu SHS tragedy: Family of slain student demands transparency and swift justice

The family of Adib Alhassan, the Kinbu Senior High School student allegedly stabbed to death by a classmate, is intensifying calls for justice amid growing concerns over delays and irregularities in the ongoing juvenile court trial.

In a passionate appeal, Adib’s uncle, Yussif Alhassan, urged journalists to closely monitor proceedings, warning that without public scrutiny, the case risks being compromised.
“We are pleading with the media, if this case is not followed, we may never get justice for our son,” he said.

The family alleged that the assigned prosecutor failed to appear in court on two consecutive occasions and only showed up after a recent sitting had ended. Yussif described the conduct as unacceptable and vowed to report the matter to the Judicial Service. He further expressed suspicion of possible bias, suggesting the prosecutor might be under pressure from the suspect’s relatives.

“We fear something is happening behind the scenes,” he added. “Consistent media presence will compel the CID and the prosecutor to carry out their duties diligently.”

The fatal incident, which occurred more than a month ago, triggered national outrage. The suspect, 19-year-old Musah, was arrested shortly after the attack. The Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service quickly intervened to restore calm at Kinbu SHS, where tensions had been high in the aftermath.

As the trial continues, Adib’s family insists they will not relent in their demand for transparency and swift justice.
