The Deputy Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources and Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya West, Gizella Tetteh-Agbotui, has highlighted the government’s flagship “24-hour market” initiative as a key driver of growth for the trading sector and local development.

Speaking at the International Building, Infrastructure and Investment Expo 2025 on Friday, September 12, at the Accra International Conference Centre, under the theme “Building Resilient Infrastructure for Sustainable Growth & Regional Integration,” the Deputy Minister explained that rolling out the 24-hour market project across all districts would significantly enhance and expand local enterprises.

Citing her constituency as an example, she noted that the Bodwease Market is currently the largest and most relied upon by residents.

She said the establishment of an additional modern market under the 24-hour market initiative would help bridge the trading gap between Bodwease, Kasoa, and Adeiso markets.

She further noted that, just as Osu has the popular Night Market, which operates round the clock and enables residents to trade continuously while boosting productivity, the government’s 24-hour market initiative is expected to serve a similar purpose in districts nationwide.

Mrs. Tetteh-Agbotui further emphasized that, similar to the Big Push Initiative, the 24-hour market project is designed to stimulate community growth, strengthen businesses, and improve livelihoods.
