The Awutu Senya East Municipal Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Nash Nyande, has revealed that four children have drowned in the Okrudu River in Kasoa between September and October 10.
Speaking at the commemoration of the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, Mr. Nyande expressed concern over the alarming incidents and urged parents to closely monitor their children to prevent such tragic occurrences.
He also warned residents living along the Okrudu River to stop burning refuse near the river, stressing that the practice poses environmental and safety risks.
According to Mr. Nyande, the Municipal Assembly will soon deploy a task force to arrest and prosecute offenders in order to deter others from engaging in such harmful practices.
