Ablekuma Central roads to be repaired under ‘December Project’ — MCE assures residents

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ablekuma Central, Frank Nkansah, has assured residents that the government will soon begin rehabilitation of key deplorable roads in the municipality under a targeted initiative known as the “December Project.”

Speaking on Happy FM’s Epa Hoa Daben with Bismark Brown, the MCE said the government has completed the selection of priority roads for immediate construction. He emphasized that the road challenges in Ablekuma Central are not new and have persisted since the previous administration.

Mr. Nkansah attributed much of the deterioration to poor drainage systems, explaining that heavy rains continually wash over the roads, weakening and damaging the surfaces over time.

“Anytime it rains, floodwater runs directly onto the roads, pushing debris and weakening the asphalt. If the drains are not tackled first, the roads will continue to spoil,” he noted.

He stressed that the assembly’s rehabilitation plan will begin with desilting major drains and improving stormwater channels before full road construction begins, a step he believes is critical to achieving a lasting solution.

“As part of the works, we will start with the drains. Once that is properly fixed, the roads will be able to last,” the MCE assured.
