The Minority in Parliament has launched a scathing attack on the judiciary, rejecting a High Court order for a re-run of the Kpandai parliamentary election and daring any attempt to cite them for contempt.

Addressing a press conference in Accra today, 26 November, Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, condemned what he described as the “shameful conduct” of the court in the matter.

He said the caucus was alarmed by the circumstances under which the court ordered a rerun of the Kpandai election, after a party in the case had filed a notice of withdrawal.

“We will not be intimidated by any so-called contempt charges. If they like, they can send all of us to Nsawam Prison,” Afenyo-Markin declared, stressing that the Minority was ready to stand up to what they perceive as judicial overreach and bias.

He called for greater accountability within the judiciary, warning that growing public mistrust in the courts
