Ghana is observing the 41st edition of Farmers’ Day today, Friday, December 5, 2025, with nationwide ceremonies recognising the vital role of farmers and fishers in sustaining the country’s food supply and agricultural economy.

The national programme crowns a week of activities that began on Monday, December 1, with the opening of the 2025 National Agricultural Fair at the Ho Sports Stadium. The fair attracted thousands of exhibitors, agribusiness stakeholders, farmers and investors exploring new technologies and market opportunities.

This year’s event is being celebrated on the theme “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the Future,” reinforcing the national agenda to modernise agriculture, encourage local consumption and strengthen long-term food security.

A grand durbar will be held later today, during which President John Dramani Mahama will honour outstanding farmers across various categories, including crops, livestock, fisheries and agribusiness innovation.

Beyond the national ceremony, regional and district-level celebrations are underway, with awards scheduled for exceptional farmers who have demonstrated productivity, innovation and community leadership.

Farmers’ Day, first introduced in 1985, remains one of Ghana’s most significant national observances, recognising the men and women whose work continues to feed the nation.
