The National Chairman of the Concerned Drivers Association of Ghana (C-DAG), William Osei, popularly known as Paa Willie, has appealed to drivers across the country to exercise extreme caution on the roads as the Christmas season approaches.

In an exclusive interview with Nana Antwi Boasiako on Happy 98.9 FM’s “Happy Kaseɛbɔ”, Paa Willie advised drivers to conduct thorough checks on their vehicles, particularly tyres, link bars, and other critical components before embarking on any journey.

He stressed that such preventive measures are essential to reducing road accidents during the festive period.

He further cautioned drivers against drinking and driving, urging them to completely avoid alcohol when behind the wheel.

“Let’s make sure to check our tyres, link bars and all essential components before embarking on any trip. Most importantly, we must avoid consuming alcohol when driving this festive season to prevent road accidents,” he said.

Paa Willie also encouraged drivers to adopt defensive driving habits, including creating room for colleagues who may attempt dangerous overtaking, in order to prevent potential collisions.

“Whenever a fellow driver makes a wrongful overtaking, let’s do our best to move slightly off the road and allow them to pass safely to prevent any crash or accident,” he added.

According to him, ensuring safety on the road is crucial, as both drivers and passengers deserve to enjoy the Christmas celebration with their families.

He emphasized that prioritizing road safety is the best way to avoid needless loss of lives as the year draws to a close.
