The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested thirty-three (33) suspects and impounded forty-five (45) motorbikes following a series of intelligence-led anti-crime swoop operations across parts of the region.

The operations, carried out in the early hours of December 16 and 17, 2025, targeted crime-prone areas including Kasoa Old Market, Awutu Breku, Gomoa Buduata, Senya Breku and their surrounding communities.

The exercise forms part of efforts by the Police to clamp down on criminal activities before, during and after the festive season.

In a statement released and signed by the Head of Public Affairs for the Central East Region, DSP Victor Kofi Dosoo, some of the arrested suspects were found in possession of substances suspected to be Indian hemp and quantities of Tramadol. A toy gun was also retrieved during the operation.

The Police Command said verification and documentation processes are currently underway for all the impounded motorbikes, while the suspects are being screened as investigations continue. Individuals found culpable will be arraigned before court to face justice.

As part of measures to ensure public safety during the festive period, the Police have urged residents to take basic security precautions, including avoiding the carrying of large sums of money, moving in groups especially at odd hours, and refraining from travelling alone in secluded areas.

Motorbike riders have also been advised to wear crash helmets, while all road users are encouraged to avoid drunk driving, exceeding speed limits and to strictly observe road traffic regulations.

The Central East Regional Police Command expressed appreciation to chiefs, opinion leaders and other stakeholders for their cooperation in maintaining law and order throughout the year.

The Command also commended officers within the region for their dedication to effective policing.

The Police have assured the public of their readiness to ensure a crime-free festive season and warned that anyone who engages in criminal activities will be arrested and made to face the full rigours of the law.
