The Municipal Chief Executive for Kintampo North in the Bono East Region, Isaac Donkor, has called on journalists and media practitioners to actively support the promotion of tourism in the municipality as a means of boosting internally generated revenue and accelerating local development.

He argued that Kintampo North is endowed with several tourist attractions, including the famous Kintampo Waterfalls, Fulla Waterfalls, the Centre of Ghana site and the historic Kunsu Slave Trade Market.

However, he noted that these sites remain under-patronised largely due to inadequate publicity, a situation he believes the media can help to change through sustained promotion.

Mr. Donkor made the appeal during an interaction with members of the Bono East Regional Chapter of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) as part of an excursion to the Boabeng-Fiema Monkey Sanctuary in the Nkoranza North District and the Kintampo Waterfalls.

He explained that both the central government and the Kintampo Municipal Assembly have invested significantly in developing these tourism sites, providing the necessary safety measures and recreational facilities to ensure visitors enjoy value for money.

He therefore encouraged both local and international tourists to visit and experience the natural and historical treasures of the area.

Meanwhile, the President of the Bono East Regional Chapter of the GJA, Rev. Frederick Antwi, has urged the government to prioritise the construction and improvement of roads leading to major tourist sites to enhance accessibility.

Rev. Antwi also appealed to telecommunication companies operating in Ghana to improve network connectivity at tourism centres, stressing that reliable communication services would make the sites more attractive to visitors.
