Deputy Education Minister dismisses claims of rift With Education Minister

The Office of the Deputy Minister of Education has dismissed as false claims circulating on social media suggesting tensions between the Deputy Minister, Dr. Clement Apaak, and the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu.

In a statement issued and signed by Samson Samari, Personal Assistant to the Deputy Minister of Education on Friday, January 30, the Office clarified that comments made in a viral video by Kelvin Taylor on the “With All Due Respect” programme regarding the working relationship between the Deputy Minister and the substantive Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu do not reflect the views, sentiments or experiences of Dr. Apaak.

The Deputy Minister has, therefore, fully dissociated himself from the assertions contained in the video.

According to the statement, Dr. Apaak has never, either privately or publicly, expressed dissatisfaction regarding his role or the delegation of responsibilities within the Ministry of Education.

The statement further stressed that contrary to the claims made in the video, Haruna Iddrisu has consistently fostered a collaborative and inclusive working environment at the Ministry.

It added that Dr. Apaak remains one of the most empowered deputies, frequently representing the Ministry at high-level engagements and participating in key decision-making processes.

The Office also reaffirmed the Deputy Minister’s deep respect for the Minister’s leadership, noting that both officials remain committed to their shared objective of advancing Ghana’s education agenda.

The public has been urged to disregard what the Office described as speculative and misleading commentary, emphasizing that such claims do not reflect the professional synergy currently driving the work of the Ministry of Education.
