Black Queens beat Russia 4-0 to maintain perfect start at Pink Ladies Cup

The Black Queens delivered another dominant performance with a 4-0 victory over Russia in the Pink Ladies Cup in the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.

The match went ahead despite rising tensions in the Middle East following missile strikes on Iran by the United States and Israel. Ghana came into the fixture after beating Hong Kong 4-0, while Russia had defeated Tanzania 4-1, but it was the African side that proved too strong.

Ghana made their intentions clear early on. In the 8th minute, Doris Boaduwaa set up Stella Nyamekye, who calmly finished to open the scoring. Boaduwaa then doubled the lead in the 17th minute with a composed finish before grabbing her second of the afternoon in the 33rd minute, assisted by Nyamekye, to make it 3-0 at halftime.

The Queens maintained control after the break, and Patience Zakaria added the fourth goal to seal their second straight 4-0 win of the tournament.

The result leaves the three-time WAFCON runners-up top of the standings with six points from two matches. Russia sit second on three points, with Hong Kong and Tanzania trailing. Ghana are scheduled to face Tanzania next, subject to safety conditions amid the ongoing regional tensions.
