The Central East Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) has arrested 13 drivers for the unauthorized use of sirens and emergency lights during a special enforcement exercise conducted along the Kasoa-Winneba Highway.
In a statement issued by the Ghana Police Service, the operation was carried out on May 30, 2026, at Budumburam as part of ongoing efforts to enforce road traffic regulations and promote discipline among motorists.
The statement noted that the drivers were found using sirens and emergency lamps without the required authorization.
Officers of the MTTD Task Force subsequently educated the offenders on Regulations 65 and 74 of the Road Traffic Regulations, 2012 (L.I. 2180), before processing them in accordance with the law.
The unauthorized sirens and emergency lamps installed on the vehicles were removed, while the drivers were issued warning letters and cautioned against repeating the offense.
The Central East Regional Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing road traffic regulations and maintaining order and safety on the country’s roads.
