Ghana shipped 42,000 metric tons of cocoa beans to Japan-Cocobod

The management of Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has denied Ghanaian Cocoa beans have been denied entry into Japan.
According to the Executive Secretary to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of COCOBOD , last year Ghana shipped four –two thousand metric tons of Cocoa beans to Japan.
Fifi Boafo made this correction when he interacted with Kwame Afrifa-Mensah, host of the ‘Epa Hao Daben’ show on Accra-based Happy FM.
He claimed he does not know Where The Chronicle newspaper got its information from in relations to the advice the Japanese government gave to the government of Ghana over the levels of some chemicals in the beans.
It was only an advice the Japanese government gave over the levels of some chemicals in the Cocoa beans shipped to them last year.
So it is not true Ghana’s Cocoa was banned from entering Japanese market adding that it was an advice to the Ghanaian government to have the levels of the chemicals checked before the beans  are supplied to them.
He took the opportunity to allay the fears of well-Ghanaians particularly to the Cocoa farmers about the red herrings by The Chronicle newspaper over the matter.
He questioned the source of the paper’s lead and reminded Ghanaian Cocoa farmers to remain focus as management strive to have the matter resolved .
He explained that the CEO of COCOBOD is doing everything it takes to meet the demands of the Japanese chocolate manufacturers.
