Ghana women’s football specialist, Ayishatu Ali Zakaria brings our readers a comprehensive wrap up of the matchday one of the Normalisation Committee’s Special Women’s Competition.

The competition which is meant to keep players and female clubs active for an official resumption of competitive football activities in the country, saw a lot of action on Saturday.

The action continued on Sunday at the various centres as football advocates were served with impressive performances.

There was a local derby in Group A as Premier League giants Fabulous Ladies welcomed Ashtown Ladies to the Wesley College Park.

The highly anticipated encounter ended stalemate but spectators who trooped to the venue enjoyed themselves despite heavy downpour as both sides exhibited fantastic display.

At the Prempeh College Park, the story was different as Supreme Ladies were defeated 3-2 by Kumasi Sports Academy.

Supreme Ladies conceded the first goal after Acheampong El Shaddai out the academy side ahead in the 11th minute. Sandra Atinga extended their lead on the stroke of half time.

However, Supreme Ladies responded quickly on the 50th minute mark when Felicity Asante scored from close range but their celebration was cut short when they conceded a penalty in the 57th minute.

Acheampong El Shaddai stepped up to score her second of the match before Tracy Twum reduced the deficit to 3-2 in the in the 70th minute.

In Group B, Pearlpia Ladies picked their first maximum points as they inflicted a 2-1 defeat on Prisons Ladies at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium thanks to a brace from Black Maidens star Safia Abdul Rahaman.
