A communicator for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Eric Amoako Twum, has raised concerns about some five questions the minority posed to the Vice President and his economic management team Wednesday, March 20.

Minority members held a press conference Wednesday, March 20, led by the spokesperson on Finance, Cassiel Ato Forson, in which they accused the  government of mismanagement and demanded answers to some five questions.

But speaking in an interview, Mr. Twum, who is also the Deputy CEO of Ghana Exports Promotion Authority (GEPA) said the questions by the minority were incomprehensible.

“I took my time to appreciate the five questions that were asked and half of them were unintelligible, I didn’t understand what they were trying to say, it is as if they were asking a question and actually answering the question themselves, you could not find the head and the tail”, he said.

According to him, the entire press conference which sought to address issues surrounding the depreciation of the cedi and the economy at large fell short of its purpose.

“I think that the minority, what they did yesterday was purely politics, it was absolutely nothing to do with economics”, he noted.

The minority in its press conference had also demanded that the 2019 budget be changed due to the depreciating cedi, but Mr. Twum described the call as “premature”, noting there is a procedure for such purpose.

He explained that if there is the need for a supplementary budget it would have to come from the finance minister .

Mr. Twum accused the NDC of  being the cause of half the problems the country faces today, claiming they mismanaged the economy and took it to the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
