Minority questions AFAG’s call for probe of Auditor General

The Deputy Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress, Mr. Godwin Ako Gunn has raised concerns over the call by the Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) Group to investigate the Auditor-General, Mr. Daniel Yaw Domelevo.

In an interview with Kwame Afrifa Mensah on the Epa Hoa Daben show, he stated that it will be hypocritical on the part of AFAG if it called for the removal and investigations into the Auditor-General because the group has a history of asking the Supreme Court to grant the Auditor-General the power to protect the country’s money.

“AFAG demanded that the Supreme Court grant more powers to the Auditor-General in order to protect Ghana’s money. And that was approved. So why is it that AFAG is now against the Auditor-General”, he said.

According to him,President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo should be proud to have Mr.Domelevu in the position of the Auditor General as he,the President is committed to protecting the public purse.

The Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) has accused the Auditor-General of procurement breaches and has thus challenged the Attorney-General to investigate the Auditor-General.
