Following the Ablekuma North parliamentary rerun violence on July 11, 2025, the Interior Minister Muntaka Mubarak has extended a message of empathy to former Fisheries Minister Mavis Hawa Koomson.
He confirmed that he personally called Madam Hawa Koomson, urging calm and encouraging her to provide complete information during ongoing investigations.
The rerun, marred by disturbing incidents including attacks on journalists and political figures, prompted Muntaka to charge the Inspector General of Police with a clear directive to pursue justice with no favoritism.
He emphasized that political ties would not shield anyone involved in the violence from accountability.
Speaking at the government accountability series at the Jubilee House today, July 14, 2025 Muntaka noted that the police took Hawa Koomsom’s statement and forwarded the docket to the Attorney-General for advice.
I told Hawa Koomson to make herself available anytime the police invites her to speed up investigations in order to allow the perpetrators to face the full rigours of the law.
