Amidst an air of accomplishment and unwavering determination, the Spintex Knights( The Nobles), victors of the Accra Basketball League (ABL) Division 1, have revealed their shift in focus to a grander stage—the prestigious Basketball African League (BAL).

At a press briefing at the Jobyco Hotel in Spintex, Accra, key figures of the Knights passionately articulated their ambitions to represent Ghana on the continental basketball platform.

Co-founder Dr. Eric Opoku Antwi, exuding confidence, shed light on the team’s transformative journey. “Our progression from Division 2 obscurity to clinching the ABL Division 1 title has been remarkable. However, our ultimate goal has always been to pave the way as the first Ghanaian representatives in the Basketball African League.”

Coach Selorm Thomas, buoyed by the team’s success, emphasized the upcoming challenge. “For us as a brand or a team, we take every success very seriously. We want everyone to understand that Spintex Knights is here to stay. And with the regulations set by the Ghana Basketball Association, we believe we are ready to represent Ghana at the Basketball African League.”

The Nobles’ pursuit of the BAL berth was catalyzed by their commanding victory over defending champions Braves of the Ghana Revenue Authority. A resounding 74-40 triumph in the series solidified their status as the Greater Accra Basketball League Men’s Division 1 champions, boasting an impeccable record of 22 unbeaten games throughout the season.

Captain Elvis Pobi Asiaw, while acknowledging the team’s success, underlined their collective determination.

The Knights’ commitment to representing Ghana in the BAL highlights not just their ambition but also their readiness to undertake the rigors of competing at an international level.

The team is currently preparing for their preseason games and is poised to make history in the upcoming season.
