Tunisia will face Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) debutants Madagascar in the quarter-finals after beating Ghana 5-4 on penalties on Monday. This has got many Ghanaians talking especially those in the football fraternity.

Ex-Ghana international, Ntow Gyan has also waded into the conversation with shocking revelations.

In an interview on Happy FM’s ‘Anopa Bosuo Sports’ with Ohene Brenya-Bampoe, the former Kumasi Asante Kotoko player said some of the Black Stars players did not respect the head coach of the side, Kwesi Appiah. “Kwesi Appiah was too lenient with the boys.  Some of the attitudes of the players show that they don’t respect him. He couldn’t control some of them.”

According to him, one of the main reasons why the coach did not succeed is that the players were disrespectful tactically citing Inter Milan star Kwadwo Asamoah as one of those who don’t give regards to the head coach. “The players didn’t help Kwesi Appiah, they were tactically indiscipline, some of them did whatever they want to on the field, Kwadwo Asamoah is one of such players.”

“It seems like we can’t control these boys when they come to play for the nation, they don’t exhibit the same attitude at their club level,” he added.

He also commended Kwesi Appiah saying he performed creditably well at this year’s AFCON. “Coach Kwesi Appiah did averagely well considering the pressure from Ghanaians but we should know that the players are those on the field, not the coach.”
