The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Bernard Ahiafor, has launched the Ninth Parliament’s Parliamentary Friendship Association.
Speaking at the launch, Ahiafo emphasized that the Parliamentary Friendship Association signals not only the continuation of parliamentary practices and procedure but the deepening of commitment to parliamentary democracy and international relations.
Explaining further the purpose of the association on the floor of the House, the First Deputy Speaker noted that the Parliamentary Friendship Association is a platform to connect to peers across borders and share ideas such as climate change which is confronting the whole world.
Mr. Ahiafor was of the view that certain roles played by Members of Parliament must be extended to international engagements and not only to their constituencies.
Additionally, he encouraged all current and future members to see membership of the Parliamentary Association as a call to action and a strategic avenue for deepening Ghana’s relationship with its international partners.
