The Central East Regional Police Command has apprehended four men at Kasoa for allegedly stealing mobile phones during Easter festivities in Agona Swedru in the Central Region.
The suspects, Anthony Fiave, 25; Bright Owusu, 30; Kwaku Appiah, 38; and John Addai, 39 were arrested in the early hours of Monday, April 6, 2026, at about 3:45 a.m.
They were found in possession of 21 assorted mobile phones at the time of their arrest.
The operation forms part of intensified security measures undertaken by the police to maintain law and order during the Easter celebrations.
The suspects were intercepted during a vehicular stop-and-search exercise along the Kasoa–Ofaakor–Bawjiase–Swedru Road while travelling in a Toyota Hiace vehicle, popularly known as a “fish” car, bearing registration number GB 6246-22.
A search conducted on the vehicle led to the retrieval of the mobile phones, which police believe were stolen.
Initial investigations suggest the group engaged in a spree of phone thefts, targeting unsuspecting individuals celebrating Easter in Agona Swedru. The identities of the victims are yet to be established.
The suspects remain in police custody and are assisting with ongoing investigations.
They are expected to be processed for court. Meanwhile, the police have kept the retrieved phones as exhibits and are appealing to individuals who may have lost their devices to report to the Kasoa Divisional Police Command for identification and possible retrieval.
