The Ahwenease Development Association (ADA) donated items worth GHC14, 000 to the Presbyterian Junior High School as part of their contribution towards teaching and learning in the school.

Addressing the gathering in the stead of the Chief, Barffour Addo Yobo the Kontihene of Ahwenease encouraged parents to provide the basic necessities for their children to enable them go to school. According to him, both parents should be keen and interested in the education of their children as they are the future leaders.

Madam Patience Ganyo speaking on behalf of the Municipal Education Director, thanked the association for the donation and encouraged others to emulate this act. According to her “government cannot provide for every community’s need and benevolence such as this is what the community needs to equip its education system.

She reiterated the importance of education and advised the students gathered to take good care of the donated items.

The headmaster of the school Daniel Asante, who received the items on behalf of the school acknowledged the importance of the donation. He added that, due to lack of space, some students are reluctant to come to school. Hence with the newly donated desks, students would have enough space and this would encourage more to come to school.

Just like Oliver Twist, the headmaster asked for an ICT centre to enable the students have a facility where they can actually see and understand what is been taught.

In her response, the interim Chairperson for the association, Madam Charity Anima Offei explained that the purpose for establishing this association was to contribute in the provision of the needed infrastructure to help teaching and learning in the community.

According to her, “aside the donated infrastructure, the association is working on building an ICT centre amongst others for the community”.  She thanked the association members both in Ghana and Abroad who contributed to make this donation possible.

The donated items were made up of sixty school desks and five table and chairs for the teachers and headmaster.

The presentation of the school desks and teacher’s tables and chairs to the Presbyterian Junior High School was attended by some chiefs and traditional leaders of the community, teachers and pupils of the school and members of the association.
