Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, held a breakfast meeting with the five presidential aspirants of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at his private residence in Nima, Accra.

According to a statement signed by his spokesperson, Fatimatu Abubakar, the meeting aimed to promote unity and camaraderie among the aspirants ahead of the party’s presidential primaries slated for January 31, 2026. It also sought to highlight the importance of party cohesion as the NPP prepares for the 2028 general elections.

In his address, the former President expressed appreciation to the aspirants for their commitment to the party’s vision and urged them to conduct issue-based, respectful campaigns that would strengthen rather than divide the party.

Mr. Akufo-Addo reiterated that his top priority is ensuring a united NPP and a transparent primary process that will position the party strongly for the 2028 polls.

The five aspirants, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Ken Ohene Agyapong, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong all pledged to maintain a healthy, competitive, and peaceful campaign atmosphere and to rally behind whoever emerges as the party’s flagbearer.

The meeting was attended by senior party figures, including Hackman Owusu-Agyemang, Danquah Smith Buttey, Justin Kodua Frimpong, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, and Akosua Frema Osei-Opare.
