Education Minister announces return of Sports and Colleges Festival

Education Minister, Haruna Iddrisu has reiterated the need for Ghanaian schools to respect students’ constitutional rights to practice their religion freely.

Addressing a congregation of the Ambariyya Muslim sect during Eid ul-Fitr prayers in Tamale on March 31, 2025, Haruna Iddrisu emphasized the importance of inclusivity and religious freedom within the educational system.

He stated, “Every Ghanaian child is entitled to the full benefit of the rights and freedoms guaranteed under the constitution. No school has the authority to deny any Ghanaian child the right to practice their faith.”

He further emphasized that, all schools must recognize and respect the right of every Ghanaian child to profess and practice their religion.
