A Nigerian woman identified as Ivy Blessing has accused her madam of physically assaulting her and inserting pepper into her private parts after she allegedly made low sales and performed poorly in her work at Takoradi in the Western Region.

Speaking in an interview with the media, Ivy narrated that she was deceived by a friend to come to Ghana with the promise of a well-paying job that would earn her more than her sachet water business in Nigeria.

According to her, she arrived in Ghana on August 2, 2025, and was handed over to a woman described as her “madam,” who was supposed to guide her through the supposed job opportunity.

However, she claimed she was introduced to prostitution instead and was forced to engage in sexual acts with men to generate daily sales.

Ivy recounted that on October 5, 2025, her madam complained that she was not making enough income due to her poor performance and advised her to work harder to attract more clients.

The confrontation reportedly led to an argument, but Ivy said she could not express herself well since she speaks Nigerian English while her madam and others around communicated mainly in Twi.

She alleged that on October 8, her madam physically assaulted her, claiming that her low earnings of GH¢200 for the day were ruining the business. Ivy said her madam flogged her and allegedly inserted pepper into her genitals as punishment.

The victim explained that she left her three children in Nigeria with hopes of a better life in Ghana, not to engage in prostitution.

She also revealed that her madam has threatened her anytime she expresses interest in returning home, claiming that she would go mad if she tried to escape because she was forced to swear an oath with schnapps and an egg when she got to Ghana.

Ivy has since appealed to the public and relevant authorities to help her return to Nigeria, where she hopes to resume her sachet water business and take care of her children.
