Ghanaian must-genre musician A.I. born Emmanuel Kwadwo Ayisi Oware has encouraged artists, who get nominated and do not win, not hard on themselves.
Ghana has a lot of awards schemes which generate a lot of controversies in the entertainment industry. We have witnessed so many artists complain and rant about awards they did not win in this country.
A.I. who has equally been nominated for various awards reacted to the notion that Ghana’s awards schemes are not credible.
Speaking on e.TV Ghana’s award-winning show ‘The Late Nite Celebrity Show’, he said that even Grammy awards get artists who complain about not winning awards they have been nominated for.
Reacting to the question about the credibility of the award schemes, he said “even Grammy sef dem day talk. Grammy sef you have other artists feel that they deserved it but they did not get it. You will have them giving the awards to the country singer or the pop singer while the hip hop guys feel that they deserve it and they are not getting it.”
A.I. further expanded his submission to the general human institution where people are generally not content or satisfied when they lose to the other person.
“Everywhere, in every human institution somebody go fi dey back and talk say dey deserve it and didn’t get it. So the thing you can tell yourself to comfort yourself it that, the prizes are just a byproduct for keeping and sticking to the work you are doing. So it shouldn’t be the main motivating factor for doing what you are doing,” he said.
“Whilst you fi you win a prize that is good but if you don’t just keep at it,” he added.
