Lopsided street lights on the Awoshie-Pokuase Road

Residents of Ablekuma and users of Awoshie Pokuase Road and its environs have expressed their fears regarding the lopsided state of a number of street lights in the area.

The Awoshie-Pokuase Road, constructed and commissioned for use in 2021, has eased up pressure and improved traffic conditions on various routes within the Ga West and East Districts of the Greater Accra Region.

Speaking to happyghana.com, a distressed local mentioned that the road as a commonly used road requires intermittent checks by designated road regulators to maintain its efficiency.

A commercial driver who frequents that road highlighted that “there are people who are responsible to check these things; but I have not seen anyone come to rectify this issue.”

“Because of the damaged streets light we are forced to close from work early; sometimes we are not even able to finish our work because we get attacked by robbers and gangs as soon as it’s nightfall.” a nearby shopkeeper stated.

Awoshie-Pokuase road, regulated by the Department of Urban Roads, traverses into the Pokuase Interchange, constructed as a four level stack interchange both commissioned for use in the year 2021.
