Vice President and Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has accused the Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of attempting to win back the support of Ghanaians despite his poor management of the country during his time in office.

Speaking to the people of Ofoase-Ayirebi in the Eastern Region on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, Dr. Bawumia criticized the NDC’s past governance, stating that under their regime, Ghana was plunged into severe power outages (dumsor), and teachers worked for three years but were only paid for three months.

He also recalled how the NDC flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, admitted to the youth that he wasn’t a magician when they demanded jobs to address unemployment.

Dr. Bawumia urged the people to reject the NDC and its flagbearer in the upcoming elections. He highlighted the various policies implemented by the NPP that have transformed the nation, including Free Senior High School and TVET, the reintroduction of teacher and nursing trainee allowances, the One Constituency One Ambulance initiative, Agenda 111, the Zongo Development Fund etc.

He further pointed out that during the NDC’s regime, they couldn’t even provide chalk for schools. In contrast, under the NPP, tablets loaded with textbooks, lesson plans, and exam papers have been distributed to Senior High School students across Ghana, with more distributions ongoing and teachers are receiving laptops to aid their work.

The Vice President also noted that when the NPP assumed office, there were only three astroturfs in the entire country. Now, under their leadership, Ghana can boast of one hundred and fifty astroturfs across the country. He promised that going forward they are going to make it one constituency one astroturf.
