Black Stars and AS Monaco defender Mohammed Salisu has been ruled out for the rest of the season after sustaining a serious anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.
The Ghana international picked up the injury during Monaco’s 3–1 loss to Olympique Lyon on Sunday and is expected to undergo surgery, followed by an extended period of rehabilitation.
The setback represents a significant blow for both club and country, with Salisu facing several months on the sidelines. The seriousness of the injury has also cast doubt over his availability for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with his return dependent on the progress of his recovery.
Salisu has been a mainstay in the Black Stars’ defence in recent years, earning plaudits for his physical presence, composure, and reliability at the back.
Further updates on his condition and recovery timeline are expected in the coming weeks.
