In the aftermath of the recent clash between Bofoakwa Tano and Nsoatreman FC at the Sunyani Coronation Park in the betPawa Ghana Premier League matchday, Eric Alagidede, the General Manager of Nsoatreman, has expressed concern over the volatile situation that unfolded, stating that lives could have been lost if his team had emerged victorious.

Alagidede’s remarks stems from the disturbing incident where Bofoakwa Tano supporters abused Nsoatreman FC coach Maxwell Konadu and other match officials. Although Konadu was hospitalized, Alagidede assured the public that the coach is in stable condition and is undergoing further treatment.

In an exclusive interview on Happy FM, Alagidede shed light on the tense atmosphere during the game, emphasizing the need for heightened security measures during GPL matches. He urged the relevant authorities to take decisive action to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.

“I advised my team to quickly move to the dressing room after the final whistle to depart the match venue, only for this untoward incident to occur. Maxwell was hit on his way to the dressing room, rendering him unconscious. The truth is, if Nsoatreman had won the game, we would have woken up to a tragic loss of lives, which would have been disastrous for Ghanaian football,” Alagidede explained.

In response to the escalating situation, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) promptly issued a statement, temporarily banning Bofoakwa Tano from using the Sunyani Coronation Park as its home venue in the league. Bofoakwa Tano, in turn, condemned the actions of its supporters and called for swift justice against those responsible.

Despite the on-field tension, the match ended in a stalemate between the two sides. Nsoatreman FC currently holds the second spot on the Ghana Premier League table with 20 points, while Bofoakwa Tano sits in the 5th position with 16 points after 11 games.
