A 17-year-old female student of Miracle Preparatory School in the Bono Region has been reported to have hung herself in the school’s dining hall in the late hours of Monday, May 17, 2021.

According to reports from her colleagues, the deceased, identified as Leticia Kyere Pinaman is said to have become withdrawn and kept away from her friends and colleagues a few days leading to her supposed suicide.

Ewurama Yeboah, reporter for Happy98.9FM’s affiliate station in the Region, Akonoba FM giving the update on the ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ political talk show with Don Kwabena Prah noted that Leticia’s death happened around 7:30pm when some students found her body dangling in the school’s dining hall.

“Yesterday the supper of the students was postponed to a latter time as it was not ready at the regular time. And because the school is a Christian one, the students were asked to go for bible studies with authorities hoping their supper will be ready afterwards.

Leticia was seen at the bible studies with her other colleagues but she left before the session ended. After the bible studies, the students who were hungry rushed to the dining hall only to find Leticia dangling from the roof of the dining hall”, Ewurama recounted.

Ewurama noted that the body had been handed over to the Sunyani regional hospital with the body of Leticia awaiting autopsy. She added that when she (Leticia) was cut loose, a note was found in her pocket read “There is so much sorrow and pain in my heart” and this is assumed to be her suicide note.

With the cause of her death yet to be ascertained, the dining hall has been cordoned off with the police investigations still ongoing.

The school is on high alert with school authorities making sure the students are calm for school activities to go on.
