Vice President Bawumia booed at Anlo Hogbetsotso Za

Editor of the Informer Newspaper, Awudu Mahama, has criticized Ghanaians who booed Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia at the Hogbetsotso Za festival in the Volta Region on Saturday, November 5.

The editor posits Ghana’s current declining economic conditions can only be resolved through the joint efforts of the citizenry and government.

He argues the now frequent boos, are not only disrespectful, but will also not solve Ghana’s current economic woes. To him, these uncouth occurrences will only lead to reprisal responses.

Vice President Mahamadu Bawumia was at the receiving end of jeers at Anlo when he was delivering his speech at the Hogbetsotso Za festival.

In the speech, he touted the importance of the Anlo state to the development of the country.

But the teeming crowd did not stay silent when he began to enumerate the government’s achievements despite the prevailing hardship.

Reacting to this in the ‘Editors‘ Take Edition‘ of the Happy Morning Show, Awudu Mahama said; “I doubt it is his speech which attracted the boos. I think what the members of the NPP did when he was coming contributed to that. It is true that it is the feeling of the youth about the country’s current economic conditions which led to the boos. The hooting however will not change anything. We need to be civil as a nation. These kind of acts might bring reprisal responses and that’s not what we want in this country.”

Prior to this, President Akufo-Addo had suffered two booing incidents, one at the Global Citizens Festival and the second incident, during working tour in the Ashanti Region. These two incidents have been linked to the displeasure of Ghanaians over the country‘s leadership and its current economic woes.
