A visually impaired runner from the Ghana Blind Union (GBU), Brown Nii Kwei has emerged the fastest blind runner at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Day edition of e.TV Ghana and Japan Motors Corporate Run.

Mr. Brown Nii Kwei won with a 33 minutes 5 second record to receive a sum of one thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 1000.00) from Ghana’s Ambassador to China, H.E. Edward Boateng.

The e.TV Ghana and Japan Motors Corporate Run sets aside Seven Ghana Cedis (7.00) from each registration and donates to the Ghana Blind Union (GBU) to support their activities. This year however, H.E Amb. Edward Boateng donated an additional two thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 2000.00) to augment the (GHc 7.00) from each registration.

Programmes Manager of e.TV Ghana, Mrs. Nosisa Doe speaking about this year’s edition said: ”We are always happy to have the Ghana Blind Union (GBU) represented in the e.tv, Japan Motors Corporate Run. I wish to congratulate Brown Nii Kwei on emerging the first runner in the visually impaired category.”

She added “He has shown that we can do whatever we set ourselves to do only if we are determined”.

Mrs Doe also expressed her gratitude to the Ghana Blinds Union (GBU) and urged that they continue to be a part of this annual event.

The other visually impaired runners who joined the race included Rebecca Amponsah, Richard Aryee and Benjamin Brenya who placed 2nd,3rd and 4th places respectively.
