Heavy rainstorm has struck the Awutu Babianiha-Odumase community in the Awutu Senya West District of the Central Region causing severe damage to the local Basic School and leaving over 500 students without shelter.

The storm, accompanied by strong winds and limited rainfall, ripped off the roofs of several buildings, including classrooms and the teachers’ staff common room, which was also flooded.

Many teachers lost their personal belongings to the rain.

The Mbrantehene (Youth Chief) of the town, Nana Kwasi Essel, has appealed to their Member of Parliament, Gizella Tetteh, who also serves as the Deputy Minister for Works and Housing, for assistance.

The pupils and members of the community have expressed their concerns, calling for immediate support to address the situation and help restore the damaged facilities.
