Ghana’s head coach, Chris Hughton, offered his apologies in the aftermath of his team’s 4-0 defeat at the hands of the United States of America (USA). The match, which took place at Geodis Stadium in Nashville, marked the conclusion of the international friendly games for October, resulting in a disheartening loss for the Black Stars.

During a post-match conference, the 64-year-old expressed his remorse for the game’s outcome, saying, “I apologize for the performance and the results.”

USA took an early lead as Giovanni Reyna, a midfielder from Dortmund, scored just ten minutes into the game. USA captain Christian Pulisic then doubled the lead from the penalty spot nine minutes later. Folarin Balogun, a Monaco attacker, added to USA’s lead in the 22nd minute, continuing their dominant performance. Reyna sealed the victory with another goal just before half-time, coming from an indirect free-kick in the box.

In their first game against Mexico at the Bank of America Stadium, Ghana suffered a 2-0 defeat. Over the two games, the Black Stars conceded a total of six goals without finding the back of the net.

Now, the Black Stars will shift their focus to the World Cup qualifiers scheduled for November, starting with matches against Madagascar on November 13 and Comoros on November 21. Following these qualifiers, Ghana will turn its attention to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast next year.
